No, I asked that already. He has tons of old cars that I haven't seen yet in his yard, there's a lot I heard. A friend said that there are a bunch of cars and trucks in his yard that are really old and in good shape still. If I find a 33 Chevy or anywhere around there IT'S MINE!!! lol But right now I am wanting a truck. The guy drives a 46 Chevy truck with a 350 and it's in primer, pretty nice though. The Mercury I would like to have and my dad would too but who knows, I will only get one or the other if they are running and all.

Just to give you a head's up....There are Thousands upon Thousands if not Million's of Classic cars in Canada...along with Hundreds of Classic car Clubs and Hotrod Club's From the East coast to the west coast.
The Dream is alive here,,,and it's doing quite well.

Just a nostalgic memory for me, but I do have a crank (4" stroke), rods, pistons and a flywheel for a '49-'50 merc. Anyway my memory is of a huge, luxurious, bulbous body that really was one of the fastest street cars in the early '50s; amazingly fast acceleration compared to other cars on the street due probably to the torque from the longer stroke. The competitors on the street at that time were the '50-'53 Olds 88 and Hudson Hornet of about '51-52. Chevy fans of today have avoided the embarrassment of a beautiful Fischer-body '40 Chevy coupe that looked fantastic but was slow as molasses with a OHV 6 held back by a sluggish vacuum shift mechanism. Chevys of that time (pre-'55) were virtually ignored unless they had a GMC truck engine, although I have to admit a shiny black '40 Chevy coupe looked great. Still a '49 Merc generated a lot of respect on the street and many were chopped later which is really a much more difficult piece of body work than chopping a '29-'34 coupe. Just some memories, I don't know where a Merc is now that my next door neighbor sold his about a year ago, but they are out there.

I know he has some 49 and 50 mercs, if he hasn't sold them already. Some restored and others not restored. Its not in Canada but only an hour south of the border in North Dakota. Also, its worth checking out the 50 merc that his son built. There is a link on his website to get to pic of his son's merc. One of the nicest mercs you'll see.

Also, I know he has cars that aren't on his website so email him as he has alot more not yet on his site.

Just wanted to say you are NEVER too old to build a hot rod!!!!
And the Merc that you want is a great choice! They are so cool!
I like the 51 Merc better, but the 49-50 Merc is great too. That's what James Dean drove in the movie Rebel without a Cause.
There is so much that you can do to build it as a hot rod or a custom car.

Hi! It's me again!
I seem to be all over the place, but enjoy the conversations on Merc's very much. I have a question for any of you that already have Mercs. Are some of the exterior, interior prts the same for certain years? If so, what is the age group...i.e. 1950-1956????

I am not exactly certain on this but I always hear people using things from 48's-50's on the same car. I am not sure what parts can be used on what but that is basically all I know. I think the grill can be changed from two different years and hood and rear fenders. Not completely sure on this so don't count on me being right. Maybe I shouldn't have even said nothing but I know I heard something about that.

It was too long height wise, and rounded not flat like, like the rest of the car???
