I was searching ebay earlier and found Pro Comp bare aluminum heads for 700 bucks a pair. Assembled pair for a little over 1,100 bucks. Anybody know anything about them? Sounds to good to be true but you never know.

i have talk to some one that sell them they say that they are ok? i never had a set in my hands to look at i would be worried about the seats falling out ? and the fit??????? and the quality of the alum for the money sound to good to be true
Well, I wouldn't buy a set and expect them to perform like a set of Brodix or Big Chief's or anything.....
Some of Pro Comp's stuff is decent, never have seen their big block heads...
The last set I bought for a customer was junk but the pair before it was very good.Quote:

You might be better off buying a set already done from a good dealer.
At $1,100 they are using very cheap parts.
I'm with Erik on this one. I'ts like rolling the dice, sometimes you're lucky, most times you're not. Buyer beware.
I do have a set on a customers 496.Quote:

I always try and explain to the customer they may or they may not need a lot of prep work.
From what I have read and heard ,those heads were intended to be a stock replacement head with almost no performance improvement over stock. You get the benifit of alu and save some weight, other than that its just a replacement head in alu.......not a anymore of a performance piece than a stock head can be made to do...only there alu and new ,so people get the impression there a good aftermarkett racing head when they are not.
They do have the same port as some of the rec. port BBC head which is 320 cc's.Quote:

Looking at some flow numbers I would guess there is enough head to support 700 hp.
Like I said before in another post I do have a customer that runs 6.70's with the heads.
Maybe a guy is better off getting the bare heads, checking everything out, and then adding premium parts.
yes that is how i would do it .i was told the ex side of that head is not that hot 320cc on the intake. i was told the heads are just ok. not greatQuote:
