i can not see your heads so it is hard to say. i think if you like the boat and are going to keep it. i would keep you alum heads if they are good not over worked , make it a 496 .then every thing may work better .or try to get the cr up. the way i would do the 049 is a 2.250 intake 1880 ex 11/32 stems and hard ex seats with 3 angle valve job back angle the valves and work on the front part of the ex valve for boat use inconel ex valves and would be $$ and may not be any better then what you have

Yeah, if I'm going to be dropping alot of coin I'd rather do it somewhere where it's going to make a bigger difference.

A little off topic, but what did those heads come off? I read them as 69 Corvette 427ci, 430 hp L-88 factory Aluminum...If so, they are not that easy to come across and are worth coin...

Someone else told me that too. I figured they are a pretty rare head, but haven't really looked into what I could get for them or who would be interested. You would have to have the pretty rare block to go along with them I guess.

They could have gone on two differant blocks I think, fact is, there is/was a hot car somewhere looking for her heads! Only 116 Vette motors made in 69 with them, it was common practice to take Vette motors and put them in boats or hot rods. The block could be out there, check out corvetteforum.com, very good folks will help find the mate if possible....good luck..

Thanks for the tip! Like Pat said they're probably not worth as much worked over, but if someone is dieing to have them......... who knows. I might get enough for the ovals!:toocool:

i did know a guy that had them stack like fire wood all were hurt they runned them on circle track all beat to hell all welded up the stud towers have a bad habit of busting off or cracking have fixs them heads. i would say that they would have to be in very good shape to get the Coin and the ports would have to be stock
