:( I will have to build a roller motor next time...
Is there a commercial substitute for EOS ?
So, what is your second choice?
Don
I would Use Cenpenco Oil for Breakin. It got more Zinc than any other oil that I found. My Next pick on oil with lot of zinc is Brad Penn Racing Oil. www.bradpennracing.com Or www.CenPeCoSales.com
A couple alternatives;
Crane Cams # 99003-1 Break-in lube
CD2's (SLOB) Street Legal Oil Boost.
IMO the best alternative is roller cams and synthetic oil!!!! Costs more up front, but sure does work and last better!!!!
Pat...This was disscussed a few weeks ago on another forum. It's not gone and it's being re packaged and sold under the AC Delco label. AC Part # 10-106. See us Ford guys do use some GM products!! Now what does need to be found out is if it's the same exact formula? That is my big question.
G.
Here's a link to the AC Delco site; http://www.acdelco.com/html/pi_vehcare_lub.htm
Use the drop down menu, choose EOS assembly lubricant to get to 10-106. In the description it doesn't give any indication as to the ZNDP (which is the additive that drives the desire for this type material additive), but it does say it isn't intended as a lubricant additive. It could be that it doesn't stay in suspension in it's current formulation.
that is funny you said that... i am doing a 351C for a customer and wanted to get some of the GM EOS for it :) did get some rotella oil . i build alot more roller engines then flat lifter cam engines... if i had my way that what it would be ...thanks every oneQuote:

AutoZone here still has Coastal 15w40 in a CI-4 rating. I buy a gallon every time in town, to stock up. It is in the 1 gallon size. In reading up on the subject Coastal appears to be a fine oil.
if you can't find e.o.s from gm use stp red the whole can and you will be fine.. don't use the blue the zddp pack is alot less in blue then the red...
were i buy from i can get joe gibs oil so i will try it ?
if your looking for a syn oil the purple max cycle is the best...has the highest zddp pack of any oil out there. i have have alot of oil tested and so far nothing is even close to the purples max cycle. i have had brad penn, joe gibbs, m1,redline and many many others tested after some hard racing and the data i got back was a eye opener. hope this helps or give you something you can use..
thanks 500 who did you
work for ? if you will tell me ?pm me if you do not want to post it on here
You all wrong!!!! GM is still making EOS. I just bought a case today from My dealer They just change the name.
So what's it called then??
It is still called E.O.S. and all they did was change the label.
So it's not being sold under the AC Delco label now? All the Chevy dealers around here still don't have any. I'd also be wondering if the new stuff is the same or has a lower zinc content?
That sure looks like the stuff Denny!! I'm hoping NAPA and the other chains carry this now. The Chevy dealer I used to get it from is a few towns over. NAPA is right down the street.
Because of the ZDDP this is being reformulated,GOOD NEWS! Check out some of your local Big Lots stores they sell close outs,I scored some of the good stuff for $1.99:D also picked up some of the STP red and Oil stabilizer.Quote:

500caddy thanks for that link!! I'll look for that stuff and give it a try. NAPA did not carry the new AC Delco bottled EOS here. LOL guys kinda gave me a funny look when I asked about it. I don't think they quite understood what it was and what a flat tappet cam was either?? :HMMM: But hooked me up on the rear view mirror glue kit I needed!! :3dSMILE:
When you go to the dealer you have to call it for a Assembly Lubricant. Not EOS.
who's john denny??? i got my e-mail from my uncle and his name isn't john...
Because to get by with Stupid EPA
