Billet or cast cam core??

Hi u guys,
I am getting a Lunati hydraulic roller, 250/255 .630/.630 lift, 112 lsa for my 540. The guy at summit racing said it is made on a billet core. I tried to call Lunati but was put on hold forever, so i hung up. When I received the cam, I couldn't tell what it was. Does anyone know for sure? I know it did have a cast iron distributor gear installed on it. I tried tapping the cam lightly with a hammer and it made more of a "thud" than a high pitch, so I thought it was cast. The springs I picked are comp cams 929. They have around 150 lbs on the seat, 420 lbs open. With this spring pressure, would a cast cam be okay?

alot of the hyd roller cams are iron core they work ok never had one give me any trouble but for a boat or a all out drag car i would like the steel core i have run them with abit less on seat 130/140 open i think 380 but your springs will loose 5or 10 pounds after they take a set this is a steel core cam and if you tap it it rings

Be sure use a bronze Dist. gear on the steel billet cams.

yes but all most all the new steel core cams have iron gears on them and if a gm roller core you need to run a melonized steel gear so yes if the cam is all steel core then you need to run a bronze gear

I called summit again and they called a lunati tech. Lunati says its made from a steel billet core....:D
I guess I could bring it to a local cam grinder and see what they say.
The cam has an iron gear pressed on it, I know that for sure.

That is what I run on all my street cars that use a roller cam.
