Looking to get the most bang for my buck so what is your opinion on who has the best kit to build a 496 stroker and does it really matter which crank for a purely street driven tire smoker? Who has the best prices as well? Thanks in advance for everyones input....

I would look at the Speed - Pro Pistons Hyper pistons.
i have built them low buck 496 with the speed pro hyper pistons stock rod with cast steel crank and some with the 4130 forged steel i had good luck with the scat.the nice thing about the cast steel is you do not have to run the H bearings on the cast crank

I rather go with Scat because I've seen Eagle spec is too for out and having to redo it to bring in with spec. That sometime rods bore too tight os crank too big.

Why don't you just use a stock forged 454 crank?You are giving up a tremendous amount of quality to use a lesser quality piece in either the eagle or scat
You won't have 496 inches but you can go to 481 with readily available stuff.
I wouldn't stroke it further unless I wanted to get up to 540. Used to do several 522 with stock 4.0 stock forged cranks at 4.560 bore in the bow tie block. One of my favorite combos was the 4 in stroke at 4.280, 4.310, 4.350 and 4.375
We ran a 460 in(4.280 ) in a truck block( 400 tall deck) in my Monza in the 8.0s at 169+ mph ( lotta 8.02s) but never got into sevens or over 170 with it--it had stock c exhaust port alum heads, 454 ch pistons, 400 long rods, touch of NOS.
It was a pretty economical buid as far as components

With the "slip collar" on the MSD dist. it has become a lot easier of the years.
the stuff is not as bad as you think and is a cheap way to go built over 12 of just the 496 about six or so with the 4130 crank and the tall deck truck block with a scat 4.500 crank for a air boat the short deck headers will fit and you do not need a slip collar or spacers of the intakeQuote:
