Low buck? Using a $2500 Gear Vendors and cheapin' out on the cylinder heads does not compute with me. I agree completely with Pat.

I will say that "gear vender" and "cheap" dont go together, but what what doesnt compute for you?Quote:

For his application, it seems logical aside from the cost of the GVOD. Maybe an OD tranny would be a better route for the $$, I dont know.

i think you may have read that i said you can dump alot of money in the 049or 781 and i have used them if you can find a set cheap. hard to do them heads everyone knows are the better heads to use.if you can find some that do not need every thing and use stock size valves and iron guides then you could do them low buck .i use them with big valves 219/188 and mang bronze guides cut them for bigger valves and put a hard seat in on the ex side and cut them hot tank mang blast them and bowl them out they get to the point were new heads are not to far offQuote:

so the seat chang is a must do thing at least for the ex. side
well if you have had it for a year now and did body work and on pay sounds like it is yours had the same thing happen with a engine i had of a year . i did find him sent him a cert letter told him he had less then two months to come get it if not it was mine .i did not want it just did not want to store it for free i have a thing about that
well i have cut them of bigger valves with out hard seat i just do it now just to cover my a$$ there is less to cut out that way to. the stock iron head do not have hard seats in them they just harden the iron seat stock not a insert when you cut out for the bigger valve you can use a seatQuote:

they are not that hard like i said you will cut all of it out if you run a bigger valve then stock head is just induction harden on the ex side not a ring of harder steel just the same iron the hole head is made ofQuote:
