finally good news
Alright so i found the intake spacers I need for my tall deck 427 so i can use a traditional bbc intake. By doing so, should I be able to use a conventional hei distributor as well? Also I would obviously be interested in any used aluminum bbc intakes....

Nay, Nay, Oh great one!! The tall deck will require a distributor with a lomger shaft. However, I'm sure it's available from Generous Motors for a small stipend.

are sure? notice above I said I found an adapter so i can use a regular deck intake....
-
The adaptors only narrow the side to side width created by the taller deck height. The camshaft to distributor pad (on the intake) is still longer than on a standard deck height engine. Sorry, but you still need a tall deck distributor.
By the way, what the hell is lomger??? Imeant LONGER.:D

The tall deck engines used the same dists as the manifolds were lower where it goes. The after market has dist with adjustable mounting sleeves or you can turn down a standard housing and machine an adapter for the manifold hole.
Depending on your application it might be better to buy a manifold that fits without the spacer plates as it seems your don't have one yet.
If you need the spacers ( retang ports) I still have aset

So does anyone know a part # on an HEI dist, that has an adjustable slip collar on it?
