Dual Quads vs Single 4 BBL...
.........I'm running a 496", full roller BBC, stroker, in a chopped and twice "Z'ed" '40 Chevy sedan. I love the look of dual quads. Right now I'm running an 800 cfm Edelbrock carb and I don't want to change to something that would decrease my horsepower. I read a few months back an article where a comparison was done between the Edelbrock Airgap single 4 bbl and the dual quad version. The single 4 bbl actually cranked out more horsepower and torque. Go figure.
Anyway, in order not to lose horsepower I've thought about going with a street tunnel ram setup. I know little about tunnel ram, but I do know you might lose some low end torque over a single 4 bbl. Maybe this wouldn't be too noticeable with a BBC vs SBC? Like I said, I really like the looks of dual quads, but not at the expense of horsepower or less low end torque. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks.
Tom
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
