Need to varifiy head gasket use
I have a 70's 454 block with standard bore 4.250 and i have a set of felpro 1017 head gaskets can i use these gaskets?
, oh have aftermarket aluminum heads.
Also do i need to drill out the lower three holes on the block to match the holes in the gasket?
Thanks jimLast edited by jimbos56; 05-19-2013 at 11:42 AM.

you do not need to drill the block for the F1017-1 . 039.. 10.5 cc or F1017-2..051 13.7cc i use them gasket only on bigger over bore s 4.350 and up to 4.530 . or if the head chamber is cut out for bigger head gasket like the F1017s . the 1037 is less cc for a 4.370 bore 9.7cc the 1037 / marine head gasket must be drilled to work .the 1017s like i said do not but most all the times i drill the lower row. lets the coolant move around the the spark plug part of the head. its only one or two holes in the block this as to do with the year of 454 ..them holes only need to be out to 7/16Last edited by pat mccarthy; 05-19-2013 at 02:30 PM.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
