I've allways used Sig Erson or now just called Erson cams.
I did buy one lunati cam but it got traded off to a buddy that was racing the same type of motor. I hear that Isky has a broader power band. Lets hear the type cam you like and why? thanks.

In my opinion, thats impossible to answer, it depends on the application.
Ok Stepside 454 then lets say for a healthy street/strip roller, you know a nice weeked warrior.

well, again, depends on application, when I redo my 454, I plan to use a roller, & I think Ive decided on a Crane grind.

Where is your power band or your RPM range Is the range as wide or broad as Isky's? Just curios. I've allway's heard you want the broadest possable power band. Have you compared it to other cam manufactures same type cam to see other cam ranges?

... who me? Maybe I should qulify that statement. I don't own a 454. I do have onea' his cams in a Ford. (as yet unfired) I have taken his high perf enging class twice, and may well take it again! I'v been to his shop, and seen the qulity of the work. I know he got his chops from Ed Winfield. I know he grinds cams for everything from club racers to NASSCAR, as well high zoot restos. I know he can give'ya just about anything ya want, within reason. He will require a lot of information from you reguarding what you have and what you wanna' do with it. So you see its' more of a personal recomendation based on my experence, not on a specific engine/app. Sorry if I confused the issue.
For my Oldsmobiles, Lazercams usually does pretty well. single guy working out of his basement probably, but he does good work anyway. He's like streets if he made cams :D
I dont think so streets. Switching back and forth between fuels is a bad idea on any engine, I wonder what the cetane rating IS on vegtable oil and theres No Way my Girlfriend is going to like smelling like McDonalds! Just let me finish cleaning her up and tuning it in, then we'll talk fast-food fuel. But not untill :p

comp cams are awsome i never had a problem
comp cams are very good in my opion followed by crane just stay away from edelbrock.
As for the best cam grinder....Ed Iskanderian....
He used to flow each cylinder and grind a cam accordingly....for the most part I have used Cam Dynamics (now Crane) , Crane , Comp Cams , Crower , House brands , Lunati and have good results for all ....if I want an all out block busting cam I have them privately machined....
I've been using Comp Cams in my Chevys and Fords for about 15 years now, and I would recommend giving them a try for your needs. They make lots of grinds, available as just the cam, or with various kits. And best of all, they're located in Memphis, Tennessee, home of Booker T & The MG's, and you can't beat that can you?

I like Comp Cams the magnum ones, thiers allways new cams coming out from all companys.

Just out of plain old curiosity, on what do you base your preference for Comp Cams? If you've used quite a few of them, does the Magnum series work best for you? What motors have you used them in?Quote:

Who makes the best all around cam??
Who really knows?? Years ago I used the off the road Z28 cam from Chevrolet. Then switched to Crane. When I went up to Late Model I started using Special Grind Comp Cams and for my own personal use have been using Comp ever since. Is it better than anyone else's? I dont have a clue. There are cam companies out there, names like Herbert, Howard,Elgin,SSI, Wolverine and others that make good cams and most times they are a lot cheaper.We are not paying their big advertising budget.Unless we compare several different cams in our particular application we really dont know which one works the best. It would be interesting to see if we took the same vehicle and used 5 different cams by 5 different manufacturers and used their recomended cam,what the results would be.Lets say Isky won my test. Then, lets say, Your application was simular but a little different. In your case Isky might come in 3rd. and the cam that cam in 5th in my case was 1st in your case. Go Figure!
