oil pump gasket
Hi everyone, puting my 400 back together and have some questions, i go to put the new melling oil pump on and there was no gasket in the box, cant remember if it had one before. And also i forgot to use locktite on the rod bolts.THANKS ROB

never use a pump gasket anymore, i think yrs ago they put gaskets in the gasket set but stopped doing it. ive did it both ways saw no dif.Mike

GM recommends you use an anaerobic sealant. Permatex makes one, it's expensive, like $20 for a tube. It will last you a lifetime, though. Kind of like a thing of anti seize. I've had the same small can for 4 years and I use that stuff on everything.

Hey guys, that tread i started on page 2 ( waring chevyll oil pump in 400) did anyone hear of doing that, had to do the same to my new pump, crude grinding
In our neighborhood, 2 blocks down the hill was a gas station that (to me) all the cool car guys hung out there. 32 coupes, 33 & 34 Fords as well, a sweet 56 Ford Beach wagon that was setup gasser...
How did you get hooked on cars?
