Need Starter Help
I am in the process of restoring a 64 impala SS with muncie 4speed- I removed a seized engine from the car that was not original- I replaced it with a 327 300HP out of a 64 impala parts car that ran perfectly but had an auto(Swapped Flywheels) I went to re-install the starter and it does not fit into the bell housing (Hits Fly Wheel). Is it possible that the guy who owned it before me used a larger flywheel? I could not use the starter from the seized Motor because the bolt pattern was different, it appears to fit but only one of the bolt holes line up. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Denny- after some further searching it looks as though The clutch set up in there wust be an 11 inch rather than a 10.4 Inch and it requires a special starter? If anyone can confirm this could be a scenario I would appreciate it- and if someone knows where I can get one of these starters that would be great. Thanks

you should check a transmission shop or an engine electrical shop first... probably your best local bet... after that its to the parts counter or summit/jegs
When I was about six years old, a race car on a trailer went past our house. I thought it was the coolest thing I had EVER seen! And I haven’t been the same since. That was over fifty years ago. ...
How did you get hooked on cars?
