350 Engine code
I went to the past posts and I didn't see an answer to my question so here goes:
Pulled a 350 out of a 83 Chevy pick up yesterday.
Looking at the casting codes, this is what I found and what I know.
3970014- 70-73
Low power 200
High Power 300
Main caps 2/4
LA Built Camaro
Cast in Tonawanda, eigth hour of a ten hour shift
Now is the hard part, this is cast on the passenger side rear
T7CON/2
What does this mean??

i have the same motor
hey i also just found out i have the same motor and i did find if you check the code by the alternator and the last three letters are cmj its a ca. only motor it had very low compression like 8:2 or 8:5 i think the type of 350 is lm-1 they did use this motor in 1974 and 1975 for police cars and produced 160 rwhp and a trap speed of 85mph which breaks down to about 15.9-16.1 in a 1/4 the head cc's are 76 im switching to 67cc to jump compression a touch hope that helps figure some stuff out

Built at Tonawanda N.Y. engine plant 5th month 29th day.
CE is a service replacement engine I don't know what the X designates. Could be dealer installed, or sent to dealer stock.
15N615684 could be the vin number check it against your VIN plate. Hope this helps
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
