305
I have a chance to buy a 305. The guy I work with says it runs good and strong. He's selling it for $125. I don't know what I would do with it, but I like the idea of having an engine to tinker with. I'm sure the wife would be irritated to have a small block sitting on the poarch but hey oh well. Is $125 a good deal? I'm not sure of the mileage. I could probably get the guy to throw in the 200R4 too but I don't know what I would do with that.

All engines for sale run "good and strong."
Did you hear it run? Check the compression? Check the head and block casting numbers to see what it is? How many miles? What car did it come out of?
An engine isn't worth anything to me unless:
a. I know what it is.
b. I have a use for it.
Your mileage may vary.Jack

With the tranny it's well worth that as a core, if it's fairly complete. But keep in mind what good ol' Henry said. All motors for sale run great and strong. Just check a few things out like he said. If you can hear it run even better. 305's aren't the strongest small blocks but can run pretty well.
The plan is to put 49 Plymouth bumpers on my 47 Ford. Finding the rear bumper brackets isn't going to be as easy, or as cheap as I'd hoped it to be. Just trying to think of some easy homemade methods...
