350 vortec puller

Brand new here!
I would like to add some torque to my 2000 Chev pickup - it is bone stock now. Are the air intakes worth the money? How about chipping?

Any comments would be geatly appreciated!

k&n complete setup (about 95.00 at auto zone) definitely can feel the difference as far as chipping you would need to reprogram pcm not install chip pcm has an eeprom (eraseable electronic programmed read only memory) not replaceable chip that was pre 98

I am not up to speed on the new engines. Electronics don't scare me , but I am a bit ignorant.

Can the engine be reprogrammed for more torque rather than high-end horsepower? What company do you recommend?

I'm not sure about the newer ones as far as companies, but Hypertech has always done good work. It seems to me that they sell you a good for one use programmer and then you do it your ownself. Yes you can get it set up for better pulling and towing as opposed to more ponies type of power. Hypertech, they been doin' it for awhile.

For what its worth I can vouche for hypertech. Have used them on a couple of projects and they are first class all the way. Never a problem and eager to help on the phone.

when they first came out you could only buy a full power programmer that was reusable on all gm powertrains and you could enter all the info you wanted (tire size changes, gear ratios, all the aftermarket goodies and they were pretty expensive you might check your area as far as hot rod shops or hi performance shops will probably have one.. im not sure what they have available as far as one use setup but hypertech is the big name in electronic power setups you will definitely see big improvement in performance when you get it programmed also check jegs or summit for whats available because there are other companies writing programs for gm as well

When I get evrything loaded up I plan to do some crude testing to see if the mods pull better. I eventually will have 2 big horses in a trailer and a 10' camper on the pickup.

Should put that 350 to the test - Eastern Washington is far from flat!
