Where do you put the oil sender in a 68 327?
I tried to put the oil sender in the usual place, (under the dizzy), but there was no hole for it. I went to the next usual place, (above the filter), what was there looked like a 1/4 inch freeze plug put in backwards in the hole. I'm not sure if I should pull that plug, it may be the cap to an oil pressure bypass. Anyone else had this problem in a 1968 327 Chevy?52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

Oil Port
Ed.
Oil Port on my 63- 327 Corvette block, also on left (drivers) side,
rear lower portion of casting. 1/8" NPT.
Just to help the curious, he.

I went out this morning and took a good look at the situation. It is the correct location for a 1/4 NPT fitting (above the oil filter). It still looks like a freeze plug was put in backwards. I tapped at it with a hammer and pointed chisel, all it did was make marks. If it is a freeze plug it should have at least dented. I got this engine still in the crate. Is it a possibility that the rebuilder put a steel freeze plug in the oil sender hole?52 Ford F-1, 327 Chevy, S-10 frame

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
