intake manifold vacum leak
Hi all Im looking for advice or if any body elase has had this problem My 350 has stock rebuild short block with world products sportsman 2 heads and edelbrock rpm intake when I took the engine apart the intake gaskets on the bottom were wet with oil and the intake valves and alot of burnt gunk tar on the on the back side of the intake valves. Like the intake was leaking from the bottom side of the port sucking in oil from the lifter valley bottom of the port. the top half of the gasket is stays stuck to the flanges and dosnt look like its leaking just the bottom part. I sprayed the intake on the top and tryed to listen for leaks but its all good vacum stays steady at 8-12 depending on rpm. My main question is what can cause this lower port leak Im thinking it could be the intake manifold and head flange are different angles or the block is warped deck not square or ? next time I take it apart im gonna measure the angles. both companies have really been helpfull edelbrock keeps asking if im using the right gaskets which I am but dont see how the wrong gasket would make a weird problem like this im guessing ill se a mill man soon thansk for any tips or advice henrik
The car still runs good but fouls the plugs easy if idles to long it still has good performance im guessing cause its sucking in air from crankcase insted of outside the engineLast edited by rorrik; 05-22-2005 at 06:20 PM.

When I was about six years old, a race car on a trailer went past our house. I thought it was the coolest thing I had EVER seen! And I haven’t been the same since. That was over fifty years ago. ...
