305 kapow???????

my friend who has a 305 in his 81 chevy p/u jacked up etc has a big issue he bought it from someguy and ever since he got it fired back up it makes a very loud KAPOW <like someone smacking a sledge hammer against wood> but the motor doesnt run rough. but that kapowing im scratching my head. ignigion is ok plugs are good wires arent crossed he just put headers on it no the kapow is just louder:LOL: so whaddya think?????????...........hey tech your being paged:LOL: ...............................scooter

ok he went home and took the vaccum advance hose off and it stopped doing it. i thought he had ignigition ruled out. now it gets really interesting what the he&l:confused:

BTW the blue curtain with pink spots? HE HE HE HE:LOL: :LOL: ...

I think you must have a broken wire on the pickup coil inside the distributer, ignition cuts out when the vacuum changes at the
advance!

compression test it that should help diagnose it
