What kind of milage does the stoker get compared to a stock 350? i like stroker motors but i have to drive my beast at least 30 miles a day and i can't be dropping 300 bucks out of my check into my gas tank. You know? Also does the camshaft affect milage? How does that work?
Increasing cubic inches will require more fuel, unless you curtail your driving habits. You could also change your rear gear ratio, but that will reduce low-end performance.
Hopper, have you researched a centrifugal blower or turbocharger for the 305? You could have the best of both worlds, mileage and power. You don't need a heap of cubic inches with either one to make a lot of power. The other thing is that your 305 already has the same stroke as a 350, 3.480".

Grab another boneyard 305 and be building it with 8.00:1 compression ratio while you drive the truck.
A Crower part# 00230 hydraulic cam would work well....
Lobe Displacement Angle 114 degrees
Duration @ 0.050", 214, 222
Lift 0.450", 0.470"
So what im thinking:
Build up another 305 using the master rebuild kit that i can get from motorville. The kit includes everything that i need to put a motor back together. I get to choose my pistons, cam, lifters, maybe some others. I'm thinking about using flat top pistons with an RV style camshaft. Good idea?
Pull my motor, have the heads machined and polished, slam them on the new motor, use my existing TBI. Maybe some bigger injectors? Rechip? what?
Use my 700R4 transmission, I'll pull it and put some performer stuff in it when i do the motor since i'll have to have it out anyways.
So from this the build cost looks like this:

New SWB: Not totally sure yet
total minumum cost: at least $1060, to redo my whole truck i think thats a Really good deal. Lemme know what you guys think.
Could you also post a LINK to a turbo/supercharger/blower that will fit a 5.0L 305 V8 in a Chevy truck?
