Oldsmobile Cast 350 Heads
Hi guys, I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for a little information on some cast Iron 350 heads I have. They came off of a Chevy SB 350 that was in a 72 Oldsmobile, but other than that I have no information about them. I'd like to know what engines they will fit on for what years. I took as many pictures as possible to help out. I'd appreciate any info you can give me. THanks!

If they came off of a chevy smallblock they will fit just about any small block chevy. Are you sure it's a chevy not an olds, didn't think they were putting the chevy's in Olds that early, but may be wrong.

The heads you have pictured are from an Oldsmobile 350 and not a Chevy 350, they are not interchangeable, sorry. but they should fit all Olds 350s and i do believe Olds 455s but am not positive."American Flags on Foreign Cars are for Part Time Patriots"

Ok, heres confirmation. They are definatly oldsmobile heads. if they came from a 350 from a 73 smogger motor, your not in too good of shape. However, if they are from a 72, thats a whole nother story. the 72 heads were made with larger valves and cleaner runners, and are very desirable for someone looking to build a 403. In either case, if you find you cant use them, take them to e-bay. The oldsmobile hunters are lookingRight engine, Wrong Wheels

Just to toss my nickel's worth in here: I can tell you just from looking - those are Oldsmobile 350 heads for sure, not Chevy, and they will not interchange, engine to engine. The heads you have use a non-adjustable rocker arm setup that sits on stands, one set per cylinder; easy to set up, as there is no adjustment needed - just bolt 'em down. I don't know exactly when Buick-Oldsmobile-Pontiac started using the "Corporate" (read Chevrolet) V-8 engine, but it was sometime in the early to mid '80s.

Actually Rrumbler, thats a hard question you pose there. Off the books, Oldsmobile used the chevy motors during the late 70s when they couldnt keep up production of the 307 due to the popularity of the cutlass. However, it turned out that the NYC taxi corporations did not enjoy having chevy motors when they paid for Rockets, and they got sued. On the books, Oldsmobile never used chevy V8s and produced their own line of motors till the bitter end in the rear wheel drive models.
Oh, and Aaron, its not harder, it just requires really, really thick books and flexible armsRight engine, Wrong Wheels

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
