Exhaust question

I have an exhaust question (obviously). I will be replacing the exhaust in my truck, and know how I want it to sound, but not sure how to get that sound. I would like it to be loud and a little rough sounding, and to be able to hear the pulses of the exhaust. I also want it to pop and crackle as i decelerate. I like the sound of chambered mufflers, but ive read that they do not crackle, but then again ive heard sound clips that do pop upon deceleration with chambereds. I just am not sure what mufflers to choose. I'd appreciate any advice.

The smaller diameter pipe you use the more low end torque. And consequent exhaust backtalk. Also the farther forward the muff the more low end music. As for mufflers for most its a matter of opinion and experimentation. Hope this helps.

Pop upon deceleration is usually a sign of a lean condition.

The 4x4 truck guys around my hometown like to make the sound. The really loud cackling trucks that can be heard from 1/2 mile or more away usually don't run any muffler at all. Just duals with straight 1 7/8'' tubing.

Same guys get pulled over alot, using a set of glass packs makes it liveable.

Why would you want it to pop and crackle......it will sound like a farm truck!

I know what you mean about that sound when you are backing off. You want dual glass packs like Purple Hornies or Cherry Bombs to get that sound.

Thanks everybody. I figured glasspacks in the first place, and plus they're cheap:) . I'm still in high school, so i am definitely on a budget. Anyway, it won't take much to sound better than the people my age around here, with their Z71s that sound like crap and the folks that think a civic is a performance car.
