Picked up new engine what should I do with it?
its a 97 350 out of a 1 ton, it has a spun rod bearing, I want to stroke it to 383 put on a intake manifold and a carb. is this possible with these newer generation block. or should I buy an older one and just keep the heads? I'd like to build it up to about 400 hp 450 tqe. I really don't know Jack about engines but I'll learn. I want to build it strong enough to handle a little NOS too, anyone know of any good 383 info on the net?

Yes you can use this motor to make some great horsepower. most people prefer older blocks because these were cast with better materials newer blocks were lighter cheaper sand castings. Iv'e used some newer blocks myself and have had no problems. these blocks use a one peice rear seal compared to older two peice. and also the newer ones have a different intake bolt patern so when buying parts make sure there for the new style engines . I think around 87 is when they changed to the new style. you can order stroker kits and parts for the newer engines Have fun.............
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
How did you get hooked on cars?
