Info on Pro Topline heads

just some info for anyone that wants it, I fitted a set of Pro Topline chev heads 64cc chambers 23 deg units with 200 runners, firstly fantastic perforance difference. Down side but no bigdeal they dont perfectly match up to intake manifolds, there is a slight gap into the valley area of the engine, behind the front water passage bolts,on hard revs oil droplets spray out onto the engine . No big deal a slop of silastic and thats fixed, the other downside is the plugs angle downwards at an exact 90 deg to the chamber makes fitting spark plugs and exhausts little bit tricky. But all in all fantastic units

Has your intake ever been milled down? I've run into that problem with a Victor Jr. intake before. When heads are shaved for compression or whatever, the intake has to be shaved also so that it will match up. I've already put a few engines together with the Pro Top Line heads without a glitch. But then again, you do have your imperfections in everything....

Na unfortunatley the intake manifold was new as well as the heads, manifolds a holley contender. Its not a big deal just originally couldnt work out were the leak was rev it hard and there were droplets of oil on the manifole, it only misses covering the area by about 1-2mm, still very happy with the product but

One other thought: Did your block have the head dowels still in place?

What would have to happen to make it fit right? I'm only concerned because I don't want to run into that problem building a motor for somebody else.

Is the manifold or head warped?

If you loosened the heads and intake and realigned it would it maybe help?

Yeh the dowels were definetly in place wouldnt put an engine together without them, have found engines in the past without them and I just machined up a new set to replace, but not in this instance, heads were perfect I checked them for trueness and CC the chambers prior to fitment, the only thing I couldnt give a definative answer on is whether the block has been decked at some stage in its life, realigning the manifold wont help either because I have a perfect 1-2mm gap on each side, all it is, is the relief area on the underside of these heads just behind the front water passage is slightly greater than the original parts, manifold plonked on perfectly all holes alligned up central to the manifold so there was no "stretching" of the item as you may call it. Still not knocking the product very happy with it just a dob os high temp sealant fixed the oil mist.
