Chevy heads
Hello there. I have posted before in reference to putting a comp xe268 cam in my 81 vette, and needed some opinions. I am getting rid of my stock 76cc chamber heads, and I am considering these heads that my buddie just had done, and milled. The casting numbers are 3973370. I was hoping these would be better than the smog heads that came with my 81 vette. Let me know what you think. They are $250 completely done. Think it will help my performane any??

Help me out. I am not sure what they are, but they are not 76cc chamber. I was looking at them. My buddy says 67cc, but I never heard of 67cc. I have heard of 64. I have a set of 76cc, they are very common on smog engines, and these chambers are smaller for sure. Where do I find these casting numbers.

Take off a valve cover, the numbers should be in between the rocker studs.

From an MSN message board....
"3973370" – A good over the counter head. They had 64CC combustion chambers, supposedly straight or angle plug configuration. Used a set of these on all 3 of my 383 strokers, they originally came with 1.94/1.50" valves. We did some major port massaging and installed 2.02/1.60" valves, they responded very well to the modifications and worked very well. The combustion chambers were 64CC's. These were a decent iron head, with a lot of potential for performance.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

Thank you again mr tech inspector. I hope these heads work out better than my stock smog heads off the 81 vette. Hey, for $250 done, you really can't go wrong I guess. Feel like we are playing thread tag!!!
