I was pulling the damper off and forgot to add the brass stub at the end of the puller. I stripped the first half of the threads and soiled my pants. I can't believe it. What can I do? Can I use a heli coil device. Please please help.
Thanks,
Ralph

If you only damaged the first few threads, see what you can do about getting a tap started and chasing them. Be carful not to cross thread with the tap or you'll really be in trouble. I don't know what these cost, but maybe you will want to give one a try? http://fulltorque.com/ffb.htm
get a 7/16" NF stud the same length as the bolt. Install it into the crank with loctite and use a nut to pull the balancer on and tighten it down.
Run a tap in it then get a longer bolt!
Thanks for the ideas I really appreciate it. I'm going to check it all out and decide what's best. I only have 1/4 of the threads left and it strips when it get close to torque.
