i'd say save a lil more for the blower, and definately go with a 4 bolt block if you're going to be putting any boost in it.... putter that extra pressure in there will wear the motor down much quicker, so its better to build it tough.... if you cant find a 4 bolt block then get your block trussed and have it converted to a crossbolted 4 bolt.... a good machinist can do it for you, and you'll be very happy
that depends on how hard you rock on it. that pont. wagon in my gallery was stock except for 71/2 comp. blower pistons, ran 4 lb. boost and shifted at 5,000 rpm's and run 11.0 all day, then drove the motor a long time on the st. and it ran good.Quote:

I know and 5,000 rpm's, but that still was good time with a 2900 car. 11.0@ around 124- 125 mph. the blower I got out of the junk yrd. and it was wore slam out, but it was just what I was looking for. that thing was so bad you could see daylight through it. :HMMM: :LOL:
Ok, I had a guy offer me his 327 tonight.. I snagged him a tranny pan for a th350 and he offered me a 327 for a real cheap price. It ran when he parked it about 5 years ago, so naturally it would need rebuilt. Its a 1969 327 small block. Never even out of the truck. But im not sure if i want to buy it or not.
My next question is, i know you can make those 327's run like a pack of dogs after a hunk of prime rib...but dollar for dollar which is better, the 350 or the 327? Kind of a dumb question in most peoples eyes, but I want to know what others say. I mean could it run better?
This would be going into my elky if i were to do it.
69 should be a big journal
if it has a forged crank it should be pretty tough
just try to avoid .060 overbore if the coreshift if bad
a good set of rod and main bearings, ARP fasteners throughout,
and forged pistons, this engine should last you awhile
try to use some of your budget on the heads, at least
good valve springs.
tired valve springs make a otherwise good engine lazy
but with a blower lazy might not be all bad:D
