It refers to stock car racing where the winner's engine can be claimed by another competitor for a certain fee. In theory, it keeps the cost of engine building down so guys will not use high dollar parts. Claimer pistons are probably lower priced, cast pistons. There are better pistons available.

In theory, its supposed to work, but in real life, sometimes it don't, like when they throw in,
"you have to Finnish behind the man before you can claim his motor", if i could run with him i wouldn't need his motor. also the top 5 guys will make a deal with ea. other, if they Finnish behind ea. other they want claim their motors, so those 5 lap the field every week and if you don't Finnish in the same lap you cant claim the motor no way. they get faster every week.
WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMEND FOR A 350 WITH A STREET STRIP TYP OF CAM
What you need to put in depends on what you want out. With a mild cam,you can keep the rest of the bottom end stock and just freshen it up. If you need to rebuild, get a kit , maybe even a 383 stroker, from summit, speedomotive etc. What wakes up most small blocks is better heads, roller rockers and a good aftermarket manifold. Hope this helps,Hank
IT HELPS.... THANKS HANK
