Maybe the Big Boy small block will have too much torque off the line and the baby motor will hook better.......

that was my whole point (on the first page and as usual nobody paid any attention to it), you build your 700 HP St. motor and I'm gonna out run from stop light to stop light with my little small block. :HMMM:Quote:

You think no one paid attention to you!!!! Majority missed the whole point of this post. I never intended to sound like I said you couldn't build a small motor to go fast. The whole point was if you started with more cubes, it would be cheaper and easier to obtain higher hp levels and you wouldn't have to work your engine as hard. In other words you could start with a 350, stroke it, and have a 400hp daily driver on pump gas. Somehow it got turned around to I said YOU CAN'T BUILD A LITTLE MOTOR TO GO FAST. That's not true and wasn't my point. But, what the hell, it's been fun. What a contraversy, unnecessary at that.Quote:

Why can't we all just get along? Also depends on what kind of junk you have laying around. I would not mind building a big block but i can't find one. I know you could buy one but I am still looking in backyards trying to find it. On the other hand the small blocks I have many parts laying around so thats what I build plus my kids (11yrs) know how to build the small block. CHEAP when you got extra parts and child labor.
Another misses the point!!! This is not a small block vs. big block. This is taking a small block and getting the most out of it for money spent. Start with a 350 instead of a 283 and you'll get more for your money and won't have to run it as hard. Big blocks is a whole different ball game and section of this site.Quote:

Well this seems to be the place for a stroker motor question....On a long rod stroker motor I understand about the long rod keeping the piston at TDC longer. Which would be preferred, a dished piston with a small cc head, or a flat top with a larger cc head?? Or does it even matter??? I was wondering if it matters for flame travel and mixture burn.. What squish would you want this set up at???? Thanks
