Newbie, need advice on short block selection
Hi folks, I'm replacing the engine on my 1969 chevy 1/2 ton long bed truck. I've already collected all the top end and valve train parts: Vortec heads 64 cc, Comp XE256H-10 cam, roller rockers, headers, performer intake,600 performer carb etc... I was planning on using my existing short block but I would like to drop a complete engine with a rebuilt bottom end. I was thinking of ordering a short block from larrys performance. What do you suggest; 350,383 etc... Cast, hyp, forged ? I apreciate any advice as most of my wrenching has been on harleys and in the shipyard.

Looking at their add, I could get this and add a preped block for
$349.
383 STROKER SPECIAL LONG ROD
Keith black pistons, sealed power rings, M1-77 Rod and making bearing, resized connection rods, with ARP, bolts, new stoker, crankshaft, new harmonic balancer, new flexplate. ONLY $695.00
Balancing $95.00
Does a long rod help a low rpm build?

Saw this posted on FB, and thought of posting it on the Joke Page as a Model A Donk, but then thought it's not a joke, it's cool!! -
