replace them with a 350??? is it an Olds or a Chevy? there's not much that can be done. you'v got the job half done anyway.
Its a chevy. I just hate to waste it. It might get replaced with a 327 that I have most of the parts for ( That means it will not cost as much) As for the boat anchor I will have to find a Ford . my 53 Wagon is powerd by a 360Mopar This ones for My 51-55 Willys PU
It's not a good foundation for a hot rod motor, but there is nothing wrong with it as a motivator for a street car/truck. Do a down and dirty rebuild on it and run it. Just don't spend a lot of money on it.
you could bore it .125 over and custom make a 283 lrg journal crank:LOL: <307=283 with 327 crank. 302=327 with 283 crank just clarifying:p >
Keep the crank. It's a large journal 327.
There was just recently (within the last few months) an article in one of the rod magazines on a 307 build; cost about average for a little block build, and they got something like 320 ponies out of a fairly mild builup. If I can find the mag, I'll post it so you can look the article up on-line.
i'd have to recommend flower pot, with a nice paint job, might look nice setting on the porch with a few pepper plants
One of my Chevy bigot friends insists that, if you keep the limitations in mind, the 307 isn't a bad engine. I liked the post about an article on a 320HP build - but it isn't going to be a 350, no matter what you do with it. Good luck!
ah its a daily driver motor. we used to have a 79 malibu wagon with a 305 dependable as hell it was. BUT it wasnt not hot rod. even though it was lowered with chrome wheels and a street scoop when we got bored we smacked a 142 weiand supercharger on it it was fun.
Large journal 307 crank,right? Put it in a 350 block,4"bore,5.7 rods,equals a 327,or am I too drunk to add?:HMMM: With 350 piston,flat top or domed,shouldn't be too shabby??? Vortec heads,solid cam,oh,oh,,,shut up:p
OOPS,forgot about that lift limitation on those heads,,,,no more drinking and motor building for me!lol Or do they make solid cams that low?
It's a large journal 327 crank. Put in it any large journal 4" block with 327 pistons...and voila a 327.
OOPS again,correct MI2600, with 3.25 stroke a 327 piston.
