I am converting from dual carbs to Edelbrock fuel injection. Problem is the manifold hole for the distributor is .152 too large. Is there a bushing sold to bridge this gap?
This is for a small block Chevy. The hole diameter is almost .400 and the distributor is just under .250. The distributor just seems to "swim" in the bigger hole so there must be a fix for this. Please say yes.
I used a 1 5/8 hole saw in a billet 1/4" piece. I then drilled it again with a
1 1/4 hole saw. I then ground a slight taper to the outside...tapped it in and voila...a distributor bushing. This should not have a slip-in problem as deeper in the manifold distributor hole it is a slightly larger diameter. After I installed it...with a bearing driver, I used a die grinder with a scotchbrite pad to make it perfectly level for the distributor seat gasket. It took a while though, and as good as it felt to complete it, I probably would have purchased one if I could have.
This may sound dumb but I never heard of that problem. Glad up solved it. Is the manifold new that way or was it used? I can't see how it would were out like that. Did you contact Edelbrock about it?

It is a new MPFI manifold by Edelbrock. .153 may not sound like a lot but that is over 1/8 of an inch total play. I have not spoken to Edelbrock. I did order the manifold polished, Edelbrock sends them out, so maybe they caused some change to size.
i have have made them did one for a old intake that someone made to work on a tall deck big blockwith a stock dist and have to make one for a tall deck big block blower intake cut down for a short deck . the ones i have made work just fine .just one more thing where my very old flat belt lathe comes in handy
Not that I wish problems on anyone, but I knew that my problem couldn't be so unique as for me to be the first on ever to experience this "oversize" condition.
