Hello All -
I'll post in the classifieds too but you guys probably have what I'm looking for (Just checked, classifieds aren't working). I have a SM Chevy 283. I need a 4-Barrel carb for it. Please let me know what you have. I currently have a 700 CFM Carter and want to go down to 550 or 600 CFM.....I'm open to suggestions!

All I'm looking for is dependability and durability. It's a grocery getter.........I don't even have the passing gear linkage hooked up. I'm a street crusier. The 283 came out of a 62 Corvette but I haven't did any mods to it. All I want is for it to start, run, and be dependable!

I would think that a 450 to 500 cfm carburetor would be plenty for the little 283. Here's a link to another thread on CHR that provides a formula for calculating carburetor sizes.

try e-bay I got a good carter there for 60 bucks then I did get burnt on a holley. Also look into a 500 cfm 2 barell rochester they can be had cheap and a very tuneable.
I have a 600cfm Edelbrock it needs to be re-jetted.
