find a 350 4 bolt main block, use your crank, same bore, same block.
Hey, I run a 65 - 327 / 300 hp stock motor in my 55 belair.
Itsa 2 bolt main and i got it runnin at about 419hp right now and I hammer on it , no problems yet.
I think the "old" motors can handle it. The new stuff is all recycled shit
well i was wanting to build the shit out of it with a big blower and two carbs. i got a 2 bolt and its bored .060 over. i love the hp it puts out i just want to build a 4 bolt main. Or, even better, you can buy some splayed 4 bolt caps and drill your block. It's stronger than a conventional 4 bolt block, but the caps are expensive, and the labor is expensive because the holes have to be drilled at just the right angle and line bore needs to be done.
GM used the same block for 302's, 327's, and 350's so, any block will do. Just as 427 and 454 blocks are the same. Some of the older 327's had a small journal crank, and will not be interchangeable, but those cranks are hard to find, so you're better off using a large journal.
Your other option is to buy a set of aftermarket splayed caps for a 350. They are stronger than straight bolted 4 bolts but installation may be expensive.
i got a small journal crank in the 327 i got.
Maybe bearing spacers and the aformentioned technique?
Far from knowing much but I have a 327 small journal 63 motor and the 68 327 I have is a large journal from factory I believe the 68 and 69 blocks had a large journal. correct me but the small journal was a forge crank and the large went to the steel one. Ed ke6bnlQuote:
