Is a Mallory dual point distributor a good choice if i do not want to wire an ignition's box into my mercedes wiring harness as I do not do well with wiring things? ( pluged a wire in the soundcard of my computer that was not suppose to be there ), When i fired up the computer it spewed smoke and almost cought fire. I do not want to burn the benz to the ground.

I know this is going to sound like in going from one idea to another but this is just to make my dad happy. My dad is trying to talk me into using the 267 again, remember I want 350. My dad wished me to ask you guys if i can throw a mallory dual point distributor in place of the HEI electronic ignition distributor on the 267 and have it run right?

I do not want to go real fast and get hurt wrecking it, I will just be driving the car around the block every summer weekend so the car will last as long as possible. When me and my dad bough the Impala we thought it was a a 350. My dad is trying to get me to use the 267 because I am on a somewhat limited budjet but, my mom says if I get the new motor and run out of money she might help out because I'm building it for my education.

My dad just wants me to use what i'v got. My dad and mom are not worried about the performance, In fact when me and my dad were planning what power plant we were going to use it was going to be the 350, cranking 350- 400 horsepower, I lowered are horsepower goal to 320- 350 horsepower just out of common sense.
-
I also want to be able to send it down the 1/4 mile. I will drive it places in the summer but I want a little more than a cruzer, I want a performance car built from a 67 horse diesel Mercedes. 300 miles an hour on the strip would scare me, let alone driving that speed all the time. I was just kidding about going around the block, you got to drive it if you want it to be worth the money you invest in.

Na, our school is closed for the day. Just a quick question, What parts can I use from my 267 on a shortblock 350? If I used the 267 heads, would that decrease horsepower? I was thinking of getting the shortblock from http://rebuiltautoengines.com/ and have a question about that, there 7/ 70 warranty, does that only apply for the manufacture that the engine was built for? Will my benz have a warranty?

Thank you. This will allow me to save a lot of money. The only thing I will not use is the oil pan cuz i'm getting a CHROME one from Motorchrome.com for $49.00.

I got the Milodon stock replacement pan for $80. It's a very nice pan. It's stamped from slightly thicker steel and the edges aren't rolled like the cheap pans. It has all of the stock baffles inside. And, I don't know how it did this, but it added an extra quart to my oil capacity without making it any larger? That is a good thing, though.

kitty, kitty, kitty...
Aluminum is better than chrome for engine parts anyday! They cost more, but the "flash" is brighter and the material is thicker.
Bonus: aluminum has a cooling effect on engine oil and acts as a heat sink.
People buy chrome because its cheaper, and you don't have to work to get the flash.

Thank you, tecinspector1, I do not have time to read those right now but i skimmed through them quickly and i should be able to figure it out after printing and reading them. I have one question regarding the 267 heads, where can I find out how many cc's they are?
