Cam question
I'm GLAD you guys/gals know what your talking about!!! Where as I thought I knew enough about engines, I now belive I know enough to get myself in trouble! Now on to my question,
'89 350 TBI (in a siverado) all stock besides a beautiful set of headmans (I still have a few scars to prove I put them in...)
eventual I'm going to yank the engine and repalce it with a crate motor, but until the budget allows I'm sticking with the stock motor/heads/tbi/etc.
What do you guys/gals recomend for a good streetable...inexpensive Cam? Lift and duration? I was looking at the Thumper and Magna Thumper but wow! are they expensive for what I want.
For now I want the "chop" of a strong cam, while I invest in fixing the gremlins in the rest of the truck.
The engine came stock with rollers and I would like to keep the OEM ones (new)

From what I've seen those cams cost so much more just because they are roller cams. I found that I can get a cam and lifter package that is hydrolic flat tappet about 500 dollars cheaper that the roller package. I'm just not sure if it's worth keeping the roller lifters.
When I was about six years old, a race car on a trailer went past our house. I thought it was the coolest thing I had EVER seen! And I haven’t been the same since. That was over fifty years ago. ...
How did you get hooked on cars?
