guys hello ive been missing for a while an now im back homie in the Lab wit my camaro..... ive been lurkin around jus tryin to see where i want to go wit this maro but seem to be stuck wit a 142ci supercharger wit a budget 383 build summitracing offers the block for 700 bucks..... my goal for the car is to be a weekend warrior non the less making around 450 horses..... my ? to all is what route should i go in the superchargered 383 or a mild 355.

I'm assuming you have the 142 blower on hand. Here's what I would do to bolt together a fairly inexpensive motor to move a heavy car. I'd use a 3.73 rear gear and 2000-2500 stall converter.
Shop around and find a rebuilder long block (less intake and EFI) '96-'99 5700 L31 350 from a Chevy truck. Either 12558062 or 10239906 heads will work. The difference will be that some,
but not all 906 heads came with pressed-in exhaust seats. Some of these motors were produced with 4-bolt main caps. I've been finding these builder motors in the Phoenix area on craigslist
for $200-$250. Just go to auto parts and type in Vortec. Make sure you get the roller lifters, dog bones and spider as well as the valve covers. All these are re-useable.
Blower 142, pullied for 6 psi.
I'd use these +0.030" pistons.....

Stock rods with ARP bolts and re-sized on the big end. Static compression ratio 8.7:1 with 64cc Vortec L31 heads. Will run on pump gas @ 6 psi.
These valve springs.....
Compcams #26981 beehive w/#788 titanium or #787 steel retainers. No machining of heads to fit these springs. Touch base with Comp tech to make sure these
springs will work with 0.535" intake and 0.544" exhaust lift. The springs are noted on the Comp site to be good for max 0.525". If the lift can't be stretched to
0.535"/0.544", change to 1.5 rocker arms for lift of 0.502" intake and 0.510" exhaust.

Scorpion #SCP1036 aluminum rollers, 1.6 ratio, 3/8" stud, self-aligning. Pin the rocker studs.

Carb, 950 CFM vacuum secondaries. (Yep, it'll take this much to feed the motor at 6 psi and 6200 rpm's.)

1 3/4", long-tube, equal-length tuned headers, "X" pipe right after the collectors, 2 1/2" / 2 3/4" pipes to the rear.
