carb/air cleaner problem
I bought a new air cleaner for my 400, but when i put it on my edelbrock, it rests on the fuel line and doesn't sit flush on the carb. Even if I push it down tight so it is flush, i have about 3/4 of an inch too much thread on the top. It seems that should be spacer between the carb and the air cleaner. It's an aftermarket air cleaner. Any ideas? Is there a spacer that I'm missing?

If it is a universal fit air cleaner, then you may have to purchase a spacer. I think Summit has them.

You need to get a banjo fitting for the fuel line to get it out of the way, or get a flat base air cleaner to clear the fuel line, or a filter spacer.

This is a nice banjo fitting

And this is the standard fitting.
Just make sure you get the right thread size for a Carter/Edelbrock - it's a 5/8"-20

Just get one of the plastic air cleaner spacers, they're made in 1" and 2" heights and very cheap.... Some chebbie pickups came with a metal one about 3" tall, maybe you could come up with one in the junkyard?????

Probably going to order a spacer. 1.5" should do the trick. Thanks for the help guys. I'll let you know how it turns out!
