Well guys I never updated on this forum but I bought a 1980 El Camino this past weekend to replace my Honda Prelude for my daily driver. I missed my 85 Chevy pickup so bad that I had to get something similar. I wanted a car but needed a truck for work and we all know that you can't be picky and have both... WRONG! I bought an El Camino!
Anyways, it came with a 4.4L 267 V8. Most people have never even heard of a 267 but I promise they exist. Anyways, I am wanting to replace it with a low mileage 327 and TH350 transmission. I really want a 290HP crate motor but just dont have the funds. Here are my questions...
Will a 327 have enough torque to get this big El Camino moving along?
The 327 has double hump 69 heads with NO holes for brackets for the A/C or anything. What can I do to be able to still use all my factory components like power steering, A/C compressor and alternator? I do not want to buy a high dollar bracket kit and pulleys.
My plan is to pull the 4.4, throw on my intake and new carb on the 327, put all the old brackets and A/C, alternator, and power steering pump onto it along with headers, and put it in.
Thanks for any info and suggestions!
