dots on the piston tops
I put the short block back together today (355 sbc). When I pulled the pistons I layed them out all in order the way they were removed. While puting them back today I noticed that the dots had previously been pointing to the back!( They are supposed to point forward, right?) Not wanting to change any wear pattern, I put them back in the same way they came out. The short block rotates fine now but should this concern me?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

To add to what the Inspector wrote, I have never had good luck with reusing old rings, they always burn oil! I reccomend honng the cylinders and installing new rings.Objects in my rear view mirror are a good thing unless,.... they have red and blue lights flashing.

I checked into what the inspector mentioned and noticed that the chamfers were not facing towards the fillet on 4 of the rods. I did a couple of swaps and now that problem is taken care of. As for the oil squirter hole on the big end, I dont have any, I guess that takes care of that problem.
I wish I had a little more confidence doing this and didnt second guess myself so much. Thanks again.
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
