When a rocker ratio is changed from 1.5 to 1.6, the distance from the pushrod cup on the rocker to the fulcrum centerline gets shortened. This will move the pushrod closer to the rocker stud, so make sure you have adequate clearance where the pushrod comes up through the head. If the pushrod is rubbing, you can make additional clearance with a rotary burr in a hand-held die grinder or simply work on it with a rat-tail file. You don't much want to do this with the motor assembled though because little shards of cast iron don't work well with the innards of a motor.Quote:

Tip, if ya can't get it right, ask a mechanic buddy for some help/guidance, little mistakes in a valve train can cost a lot of money. Changing form a 1.5 to a 1.6 you could run into valves hitting the pistons on some motors. pull the plugs and turn it over by hand before you ever start it. make sure you oil them well before starting the motor.Quote:

If you are a professional engine builder who does this day in and day out, you may have developed a feel for twisting pushrods and knowing when all the lash is removed. If you are the run of the mill hot rodder who builds one or two motors a year at the most, you will get the valves too tight using the twist method.Quote:
