Ok guys this is very strange. My car would run warm going up hills and not cool off after.

I have a fan and spacer bolted right to the water pump but I always thought the fan wasn't moving much air.

I was out driving today and the temp got up to 215F and all of a sudden it sounded like a huge electric fan turned on and it was like a hurricane of air moving through the radiator.

There is no electric fan on the car right now. I then turned off the car to see what is going on. I can't find anything. I turned the car back on and the fan isn't moving much air back to normal. Then the temp gets up to 210-215 and it sounds like a huge electric fans kicks on and my temps quickly drop to 180F.

What the heck is going on? My water pump has a pulley with 2 grooves one for the alternator and the other comes from the crank and then the compressor and waterpump.

Is there such thing as a thermostatically controlled pulley? Could it be the in the waterpump itself?

It is like the fan is only turn 1/4 speed and when this kicks on it is turning full power. My fan is bolted directly to the water pump.

Please let me know. Thanks.
