327 for a Cameo
Looking forward to building a 327 for my 55 Cameo. Got a 3x2 manifold, hydraulic roller cam, have a set of Dart Iron Eagle heads, .030 over forged pistons, and MSD dist 6AL box....
This will be a truck my daughter will wind up with, so just want a nice street able driver. I have 4speed I took out of my 60 Vette not # matching.
Or I have a couple of 283's, so for my daughter what do you think ????60 Vette 350 5speed not much stock.

Don't want to ask me! (get a beat up truck American made) Between my first two kids they went thru about 10 cars and trucks. Third kiddo has done well so far. The worst advise I was ever given from my "Xinsurance" guy was to pay cash for a kids car and liability only.
I hope you have a very responsible daughter. Especially if you are going to give her a Cameo to drive. Both of the first two went 14 months before having an accident. Than look out!

The extra torque of the 327 would be better in a pickup as opposed to a 283 and would be a better match to the heads you plan on using.I like your intake idea it goes with the period of the truck.

Problem is you can't get any low compression pistons for the 327 anymore without paying through the nose for them (400 bucks for KB hypers). With 64cc chambers, you need a 13cc dish to make a 9.00:1 motor that will run on 87 octane gasoline.
I'd start with a standard bore 350 short block. Parts are cheap and readily available. 18cc dish pistons will make 9.1:1 SCR with 64cc chambers.

Sounds like your daughter will really appreciate all the hard work you are putting into HER truck. She is a lucky lady!

LET THE FUN BEGIN
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
How did you get hooked on cars?
