LT1's
I apologize for hoggin in on Clayton 55's thread and started this one. That said. I have two LT1's in the garage and am wondering if they would make good HR cruiser motors. They should be stock. I was told they had low (10,000) miles on them and I have had them for about 10 years. They are fbody motors with two bolt mains and alu. heads. Assuming the internals are good, clean them up, put new rings and bearings in them. I understand you can buy a carb and intake and use a conventional disti.. Can they be pepped up with the corvette cam using their current internals:confused? Is it worth the trouble.

we currently have probably 15 of those LT 1s in the shop---yes you can get a carm manifold and dist for them--they are roller tappet blocks
REVERSE COOLING----you must use the gear driven water pump on these engines as the flow is backwards to the standard small block--
OPTIC SPARK---front mounted cam driven dist---what most people whine about on these engines
There is an MSD Coil on Plug type ignition u can use which is programable

I understand that Scoggins Dickey offers all the parts to do this conversion. They are located in Lubbock. Close enough.
Jerry,You say that you have 15 in your shop. Do you have a lot of calls for them or do you want to make sure you have one when needed. I bet cash for clunkers did a lot of them in.

we are doing several builds--lots of 383-396s--angle 4 bolt mains, stroker kits
lots of Buick, Impala SS, Cad Fleetwood guys also besides the vet, camaro and firebirds--lot of the camaro'firebird guys are going to LS setups but the vet, buick, cad, and Impala guys are staying LT for originality
Lots of calls???? have 5 to ship by next week end---we kind of machine these as a run and by the time we get started some more orders come in.

As far as the water pump is concerned, you can either mod or buy an electric water pump. I am considering going that route on my sedan.
