can you tell me how hot of plugs i can run without hurting motor? I have a rod with 302,327,or 350 in it,according to the block #'s.194 heads.when I got it it had autolite ap26 plugs in it.seem to run fine but swithed over to a set of accel shorties to get some header clearance on wires.shorties only come in one heat range ,I think about 2 steps colder than the ap26's.went up to kansas over the weekend for show & cruise and wound up changing plugs in the parking lot with barrowed tools.not a fun job on this ride.only had about 400/500 miles on the shorties and they craped out.now I think I need to go back to ap26 or hotter but dont want to hurt anything.

I, personally, would not run Accel's on anything and I'd go back to the Autolites.

accels like AC`s are good for lawn mowers ... autolite all the way ..." this opinion is mine and mine alone and does not reflect the views of this forum " ... disclaimer ...

Heat range can only be determined by "reading" the plugs and balancing the heat range of the plug and the jet size, float setting, and idle screw adjustments on the carb. Accel plugs are not noted for longevity in any engine! I'm with the others, I run Autolite's on the street, and NGK, Bosch, or Autolite for racing.

AUTOLITES for the win ... AC i just do not use they maybe fine but after many bad sets in the new boat engines i worked on turned me off on them

NGK is my choice for the performance engine.

You can get different heat range Accel's from Summit.
