In the mid to late 60's, some enterprising street racers discovered the wonders of nitromethane!!!! The "trick" was adding it at less then 7% as anything much over that had a tendency to take the tops right off the pistons!!!!

The only ways I've discovered to keep fuel temp down in the summer heat is with a cool can (a bit impractical on the street, though) and in more recent times, a good pressure regulator with a return loop in it to keep the fuel from sitting in the line and cooking!
