hey guys and gals,...anyone ever try the old acetone added to your fuel to help burn cooler and if so what did you think?...is it a go or a no on a carbed car or truck in my case ....sbc 357cid edelbrock rpm intake and 600cfm carb as of today....any thoughts or ideas to make fuel cool?

Back in the '60's the "trick" was a bag of moth balls (napthalene) in a tank of gas to turn it into "rocket fuel". That didn't work, either. :LOL::LOL::LOL:
Thanks, but no thanks. I can have enough engine problems with 10%+/- ethanol laced gasoline why add to the list of unknowns.
That "WIKI" seemed to be self serving to the authors and not the normal WIKI
In the mid to late 60's, some enterprising street racers discovered the wonders of nitromethane!!!! The "trick" was adding it at less then 7% as anything much over that had a tendency to take the tops right off the pistons!!!!:LOL::LOL::LOL:Quote:

Toulene and Xylene can be used to boost octane. You can find numerous places on the web that discuss using it. This is one of them:

If you want fuel to be cooler, you could always run a cool can like some drag racers do. The only problem is that you will constantly have to add ice.
