trouble with my sbc 400
Problem 1: I have a small block chevy 400 bored 0.30 over and I have a stuck pushrod according to the guy that put my top end together. He told me to keep driving it and it will eventually unstick itself.
Problem 2: I just got a new starter and installed it, the car started up and ran. The next day I went to start it and the car wouldn't start. It sound like the starter was missing the flywheel, so I shimmed the starter and the car started. Two days later i tried to start the car and the same thing happened as before, I got the starter drag. It like the started won't stay lined up with the flywheel. I took the engine out and examined the flywheel and it does't seem warped nor is the teeth chewed on it. Could someone please help me out here?
Also, do I need to get a new pushrod and rocker arm set, if so what would do well with the heads I have which happen to be some 882's with the steam holes already drilled?
When I was about six years old, a race car on a trailer went past our house. I thought it was the coolest thing I had EVER seen! And I haven’t been the same since. That was over fifty years ago. ...
How did you get hooked on cars?
