I had one a few years ago. 32 Victoria with a 468 BBC. Changed from a 355 SBC. The difference was about 100 lbs and the BB is a little longer. I had coilover shocks and had no troubles at all. Well worth the changeover.
Thank You Pro Chevy 60, I'm going to call to see what kind of money I'd be looking at to switch the motor mounts, etc from small to big block.... Bill
Exactly what was just said. ^
...Yep I talked to Wayne at Redneck Street Rods today {he's building my '32 for me} & I'm going with a big block! He said that the radiator was up to handleing 800 HP & since I've planned all along to go with fenderwell exit exhaust that the steering would clear. He mentioned something about the motor having to be set back a couple of inches? I guess that was because the BB is 2" longer? I wonder if he has to move the firewall back? He said he'd put in a little bit stiffer front spring. Oh well, whatever it takes! Anyway, I'm eye balling the Big Block short blocks that Scott Shafiroff Racing has ;). Looks like about the best deal going on a short block, then get the heads, & then the manifold, carb & ignition. It'll take a few months to get it all done but it'll be worth it ;) .... Thank you Road Agent & Thanks again Pro Chevy. Bill
When I did my changeover, I had to go with an electric fan because of that 2" extra length. You'll love the extra kick, I sure did. I even managed to knock my 1/4 mile times down from 12.20, to 10.93 with the motor swap.
If it'll fit in an A-bone, it'll fit in a '32.
Pro Chev, He's already set mine up with an electric fan, so I should be alright there. Wow! Talk about "extra kick", as you call it ;). From the low 12's to the high 10's is A LOT quicker!
Henry, Wow! Looks HUGE in there! May be that's because it is huge???
Thanks a bunch, Bill
Bill,
The hood sides fit also. I ran them a couple of times, but they hid the motor. What good is a big block if you can't see it?
Well, it did have a little help from a 2 stage nitrous kit.
...a little help??? cool! yep, its NEVER enough, huh??? .... hood sides off??? yep, I guess if I wasn't going to run them with a small block, I'm sure not going to with a big block!!! Bill
ps, oh, buy the way, those big blocks look AWSOME in there!!! ;0
Is this big enough...
