Replacement steering for 32
On another thread someone mentioned putting the steering box from an F1 pickup in a 32 ford car as an upgrade.
Will the steering column and steering gearbox from a 1950 ford two door car work as a replacement.?
Mine has no steering column at all at this point so I have to put something in there.
There is and old 1950 out in the woods by My place and I hiked out there today and the whole steering system is still intact and surprisingly tight.
Does anyone know if this will work.
It certainly has an "Old" style look to it and has the original steering wheel as well.
Thanks
Dave

I have not heard of a steering column from a car being used--always the pickup column. But there are a lot better choices out there for steering columns. Unless your are going for a real nostalgia look or period correct hot rod, I would go for a modern column. I have driven a buddies coupe that has an F1 column, and I think it steers hard. There are ones that look old but are all new. Check out www.tri-cengineering.com and check out their nostalgia tilt column. They are pricey, but very cool looking. I used a raw steel Ididit column for my deuce, and I like it. And it did not cost and arm and a leg either.

Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
